Slivkans gathered in the rec lounge along with CCS and CCI to make kites for the RCB field day on Sunday.  Table cloths of our respective college colors were cut into squares and then the kite making began!  There was super glue, tape, sharpies and many many feet of string being thrown around the rec lounge.  It's going to be a beautiful sight when all those blue kites are flying high in the sky!

9 AM on a Saturday morning.  Way too early.

However, four Slivkans didn't think so!  They went with Professor Plonus and his wife to Walker Bros. Pancake House for a delectable breakfast.  Professor Plonus, a professor in the Electrical and Computer Engineering department and sailing connoisseur, is a wonderful and engaging person.  As one of the students affirmed, "Yes, I definitely enjoyed myself.  Professor Plonus and his wife are very nice people, and I've never been to Walker Bros, so it was definitely a yummy experience worth waking up early for.  I think we should have more of these!"

How does one determine which Slivkan is the strongest? In an effort to do just that, Slivka held its first Arm Wrestling Contest with both male and female contestants. After rounds of excitement and tension, Kathryn Floyd was announced the winner from the ladies pool, while in the male pool Eli Bader won third, Oytun Yucel second, and Ilya grasped the winning title. Honorable mentions go out to Erick Bennett, who was not an official participant, but still proved his strength.

The first Dinner with a Fellow went off without a hitch.

On April 29th, Professor Herbst, the Director of the Master of Product Development program and clinical professor in the mechanical engineering department of MEAS, and his wife kindly took four students to the Davis Street Fish Market for dinner, which serves fresh, scrumptious seafood.  Here are what some of the Slivkans said:

"The dinner was awesome!  I had a great time this evening.  I think the event is very effective.  For me, I feel it's more personal; each person got attention from the fellow."

"The dinner was fantastic.  The food was delicious, Professor Herbst and his wife were very nice, everybody had a great time--just perfect." -- Note the bolded fantastic. Smile
