Slivka marches in the Homecoming Parade!
On October 16th, Slivkans marched down Sheridan carrying pom poms and an original banner. This year’s theme was “Where the Wildcats are,” so Slivka designed and painted a creative “Where’s Willie the Wildcat” display. The Slivka banner won the title of Best Banner of Homecoming! Congratulations, and thanks to all who participated!
This year, through an impressive collaborative effort, the Slivka community won the annual Residential College Field Day! Slivka left the competition with six trophies in total, for human foosball, waterballoon tossing, the relay race, tug of war, Penny Wars (a fundraising event) and the trophy for Field Day as a whole. Slivkans also placed well in other events, including second place for musical chairs. Those who didn’t compete helped with the concession stand, and spent hours handing out snow cones and cotton candy. Additionally, Slivkans had the pleasure of pelting President of the Slivka Exec Board, Austin Dickey, with dozens of water balloons. The weather was beautiful, and well appreciated after a long, misty spring. All in all an excellent day. (More photos coming shortly.)
In other news, the Slivka website was recently bestowed the title of Best in Show in the Residential College Website Competition.
On Sunday, February 22nd, a Slivka team, self-dubbed “Comfortably Dumb,” won first place in the Residential College Board (RCB) Quiz Bowl. Congratulations to Kelly Powderly, Alek Jansen, Ben Lewis, and Henry Richey on their victory!
Each year, all RCs compete in activities like Master’s Mile and Human Foosball at RCB Field Day. This is a wonderful day for Slivkans to gather at the lakefill, enjoy the spring weather, eat yummy food, and meet people from other RCs. This year, Slivka came in first place for Human Foosball and we won third place overall!
On May 11, Slivka and all the other Residential Colleges headed down to the Lakefill to participate in a day of outside fun. Highlights included a Slivka overall win, and Slivka championships in the Master’s Mile [pictured], human dodgeball, and the tug-of-war.
Slivkans joined the rest of the Residential Colleges for a formal at the Field Museum!
This year at field day we built a throne and carried our president through the gauntlet of water balloons thrown by other RCs. Read more about our annual events
